Add-ins

Live Web
This is a free add-in for PowerPoint (all versions) that lets you display web pages live in your PowerPoint slides. In fact, LiveWeb is like embedding a full browser in your PowerPoint presentation because you can interact with web pages as if they were opened in a real browser – all the links on web pages stay intact and live.

You Tube A quick and easy tool to use to link to a YouTube Video within your PowerPoint presentation

Opazity Opazity is an add-in for PowerPoint that enables you to create an out of focus or transparent area on your slide. PowerPoint animations can then be added to create all sorts of interesting effects to make your PowerPoint presentation stand out from the others.

Yawnbuster YawnBuster is an interactive PowerPoint® add-in by Harbinger Knoweldge Products that brings alive your slides with group activities such as audience polls, games, group exercises and competitions. And best of all, you can add all this stuff on your slides without leaving the familiar PowerPoint environment.

PowerPoint Sharing

SlideShare

  • SlideRocket (presentation / media sharing)
  • Omnisio (presentation / media sharing)
  • Scribd (text / presentation publishing)
  • Issue (text / presentation publishing)
  • Slideroll(presentation / media sharing)
  • Spresent (presentation / media sharing)
  • FlowGram
  • authorstream
    1. AuthorSTREAM supports audio in the presentations if it is an embedded audio (.wav) file in slides, are transition sounds (.wav) or is audio added using PowerPoint's ‘Add Narrations’ feature. Sounds that accompany animations are also supported (.wav). authorSTREAM indirectly supports ‘Linked Audio’ in PowerPoint with the help of a free desktop tool called authorPOINT Lite. You can find more information on how to install and use authorPOINT Lite here.
2. Hyperlinks are only maintained in the final file once uploaded if they are associated with images. Weird, I agree.

Adding Video

To insert video, you can click Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File. Unfortunately, they are always linked. This causes link breaking issues when moving your presentation from one computer to another. The best solution would be to embed these videos. Save video or video segment to your computer. Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movie from File > Locate your video and click OK. Do you want to play it automatically or when clicked? Totally up to you. When viewing the slide show, you can click on the image and the video will start playing in the PPT itself. Click again to pause.

Converting Videos

Most of these applications convert multiple forms of media - images, audio, videos, etc. Most will also allow you to upload a media file from your computer to convert as well as convert media that is hosted online.
